Dental Implants

Restore the Look and Feel of Your Mouth

Missing teeth affect your ability to look your best, speak clearly, and eat well. With dental implants, you can replace missing teeth with prosthetics that retain the natural look of your mouth while surpassing your original teeth in terms of strength and durability. Teresa Salem, DMD uses state-of-the-art porcelain to create crowns that mimic the look and feel of your original teeth. Titanium screws allow for safe, secure attachments for both standard implants and All-on-4® prosthetics.

Types of Implants

Standard Implants

Dental implants are currently the gold standard for tooth replacement. Implants combine a titanium screw with a porcelain crown to give you a beautiful, strong, and durable prosthetic tooth. Dr. Salem is your Holbrook dentist with the attentiveness and experience necessary to fit you with high-quality dental implants.

In an implant, the titanium screw takes the place of your tooth’s root. It actually bonds with your jaw, giving the bone extra strength and protecting you from pain and bone loss. A connecting piece joins the crown to the screw. Implants give you all the benefits of a porcelain crown with the extra stability of titanium.  In general, the base of an implant will last for life while the crowns need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years.

All-on-4® Implants

If you lack the bone density for standard implants and need extensive prosthetic work, All-on-4® implants can give you many of the benefits of standard implants. An All-on-4® system supports a full prosthesis, or full arch, on 4 screws, two of which are angled to maximize contact with bone. All-on-4® implant systems can be an attractive alternative to dentures since they’re permanent and can be cleaned like natural teeth.

Implant Benefits

There are many benefits to replacing teeth with dental implants, as they are currently the gold standard in modern restorative dentistry. Benefits of dental implants range from functional to cosmetic, to health:

  • Look, feel & function just like natural teeth
  • Prevent surrounding teeth from shifting
  • Protect bite
  • Durable & long-lasting
  • Prevent jawbone deterioration
  • Anchor restorations like crowns, bridges, or dentures
  • Eat, speak & smile with confidence again!

Dental Implant Surgery

At Holbrook Dental, Dr. Salem surgically places implants in-house (a service that many Holbrook dentists don’t offer). The process will vary depending on which type of implants you receive. For both standard and All-on-4® implants, Dr. Salem will make an incision in your gums, create space in your jawbone, and insert the implant.

For standard implants, a 3-6 month period is required for the implant to fuse with the jawbone, during which time you will wear a temporary restoration and maintain a soft food diet. Once fused, you will return for surgical placement of the abutment or attachment piece. Once the gums around the abutment have healed, you will return for your final restoration.

The All-on-4® system, however, uses mini implants, eliminating the need for the 3-6 month temporary restoration period. With All-on-4®, you implants will be placed and your final full arch will be secured the very same day!

Candidates

To qualify as a candidate for dental implants, you must be missing one or more teeth. Patients with fairly recent missing teeth may qualify for standard implants as their jawbone has not yet deteriorated. Patients who’ve had missing teeth for a while may not qualify for standard implants, but may be a good candidate for mini implants or All-on-4®. Implant patients should be at least 20 years of age to ensure the jawbone has stopped growing. The ideal implant candidate will be in fairly good oral health, and will be gum disease free as it could complicate treatment outcomes.

Cost

The cost of dental implants varies widely on a case-by-case basis. Your final cost will depend on a number of factors including:

  • Type & number of implants
  • Materials used
  • Pre-op procedures (bone graft)
  • Diagnostic tests
  • Type of anesthesia

If you are worried about the cost of dental implants, we have flexible financing options available to help you get the care you need without breaking the bank.
